I am now borderline diabetic need to lose weight and watch what I eat. Where do I start? - diabetic and masterpation

I do not know if I am on a diet to follow in their entirety cut sugar and carbs? I eat as many calories / carbohydrates? Any help or advice would be appreciated. I would ask the doctor, but she wants me to your program that connect the cost-performance ratio. So I try to do it alone. Thanks for any help.
